Thing 23 Reflection
I feel that I learned a lot from doing the blog of 23 things. I had to explore on my own to find new ideal of technology to share with other members of the blog. I will use my blog for my websites and I hope that other teachers will place more resources on the site to help others in technology. I do have a better understanding of the NETS-T. As teachers of technology we must promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking. We need to participate in global learning communities to develop creative applications of technology to improve our students learning.
Thing22, conference
I attended the annual West Virginia Statewide Technology Conference " The Cloud" at the Charleston Civic Center in Charleston, West Virginia on August 3-5 2010. It was an exciting four days that I spent in Charleston. We had several days of training that ways available to us and some was useful while others seemed to be sales pitches. We had fun getting acquainted with TIS members and working on assignments for the session. I did not go to the capitol tour and I am sad that I missed it. Everyone talked about how nice the event was. I sure will attend it next year if the opportunity is presented. We had several guest speakers and the one that sticks out in my mind was Sean Tuohy. His story was written in a movie entitled "Blindside" I enjoy listening to his inspirational speech of how important it was to consider kids like Michael Oher and how they are falling through the cracks every day? And how can we make an impact big enough to change a broken system? I am looking forward to attending the conference again next year.

Sensibly Incorporate Technology in the Classroom "Its all about the Writing"
Alan Sitomer October 12, 2010
Understanding why the bells and whistles of technology will not replace the need for students to critically read, write and think
Seeing how cutting edge tech tools can (and should) coexist side-by-side with projects that can be done by candlelight.
Recognizing that successfully incorporating technology in today’s classroom BEGINS WITH THE WRITING!
Getting comfortable with the idea that technology is evolving at such a rapid pace that there is no more “keeping up”.
Re-conceptualizing our methodologies so that we can allow students to demonstrate their full capabilities without unnecessarily holding them back simply because we, the educators, do not have the same technological abilities that they, the students, possess.

Thing 19 - Skype
I already had a skype account and I use it a lot. I have used the site to collaborate with Patricia Brown's class at Burch High during the first part of the school year. I want to be able to collaborate with other teachers in West Virginia on different resources for social studies class. We are getting ready to do a project of Christmas around the world. I am trying to fine a secure teacher that might have their students assist in the project. My username is woodyspepper.
Thing 18 - AUP

http://lc2.boe.loga.k12.wv.us/auppersonnel.htm- staff.
This is our current AUP. at the beginning of the school year the form is sent home to the parents for signatures. Each homeroom teacher is responsible for getting their students forms returned. All of the forms are submitted to the vice principal. If a student does not have a signed AUP, the student is not allowed to use the internet. If the class is doing internet research that student is required to go to the library for research materials. I have always got my forms returned and I have not had the problem with not returning the forms. It is very important because all of the benchmarks are also in the internet.
